    Lake Tahoe land-use regulators today relaxed rules to allow property owners more flexibility to cut down trees in part of a broader effort to reduce the danger of catastrophic wildfires like the one that destroyed more than 250 homes last summer. The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency agreed allow removal of trees 14 inches or less in diameter without requiring a permit.
