Next Saturday at Mackay Stadium, the T-shirt many will be wearing won’t be one sold at the campus bookstore. It’s not particularly fashionable or stylish, but it’s one that is already becoming a hot seller.
When the University of Nevada, Reno’s football teams faces off against the University of Las Vegas, expect to see students, alumni and fans donning FUNLV T-shirts, and yes, the F stands for F@#$. The FUNLV and FUNR shirts have been around for a few years, and were in the past were hand made by students or sold by fraternities. This year, Fuel Productions, a Reno company that makes T-shirts, is mass producing FUNLV T-shirts.
“I was motivated to create the shirts after I went to the game in Las Vegas last year and the fans there were yelling and screaming at the UNR fans,” said Jay Sprow of Fuel Productions and a 1994 UNR grad. Shirts are $10 for men’s, and $12 for women’s and tank tops. They are available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at Fuel Productions at 233 East 5th Street.
